Waves

We were lucky to spend a few days with old friends down south a few weeks ago and loved every second soaking up that warm sunshine! We had a blast catching up with old friends, watching all of the babies new tricks, and dipping our feet into the chilly ocean.

My husband works most of the time in all manner of IT related sales and customer management with salesforce and being able to get him away from the computer to enjoy time with our son Broderick is amazing even when he’s chattering away about sales goals.

Broderick cannot get enough of his rock throwing. He throws them in the stream, in puddles, in the ocean. It doesn’t matter how big or small the rock, he tries to lift them all. I love when he finds that perfect rock and refuses to let go of it. I never know which one it will be but his favorites are perfectly smooth and fit right into the palm of his hand….not too big, not too little. Unfortunately, these “perfect” rocks are just about the perfect choking size so all the fun is over when its time to get back into the car seat and Mom rips the rock from his tight grasp.

I tell ya, he has some seriously dedication to the sport and this beach in Santa Barbara just happened to be lined with rocks! We were lucky to see a few dolphins, so here I am showing him the dolphins jumping in the waves.

Annnnnnd….this is where things got ugly. I was trying to get a picture of him on the beach with my iPhone, and let me tell you those waves sneak up on you like no ones business, especially when you are only two foot nine inches. Whelp, the wave tackled him and needless to say he wasn’t too happy about it. I felt terrible and yes, Ryan took these pictures to document my “Worst Mother of the Year” award nomination. Thanks honey!

These guys are only a month apart and haven’t seen each other since they were three months old. (Sorry for the bad iPhone pic, but this was the first time they met. Jan is 2 months, Broderick is 3 months).

And now look at them!

And this last picture, is my new favorite picture of Broderick. There is nothing special about it, but to me, it represents everything he is at this stage — happy, healthy, and just all boy.
